Acid Reflux Medications Effects and Warnings

The role antacids play as acid reflux medications is to neutralize the acids which promote the digestion of food in the stomach. Antacids also can stimulate the stomach's defensive systems by increasing the bicarbonate and mucous secretions, the natural neutralizers of the stomach acids present.

Some individuals may have these stomach digestive acids stronger than the usual levels, which initially manifests itself in mild heartburn, but could develop into something more serious, if the malady stays unattended by competent health professionals, due largely to the nonchalant attitude of the patient.

It is quite dangerous to take acid reflux medications on the advice of just anybody because he or she is taking the same drugs on a similar health problem, supposedly affecting the one giving the tip. The adviser cannot be blamed for the concern he or she may feel for a friend acquiring the early signs of heartburn by tipping the friend on antacids as effective acid reflux medications.
